What is the .travel sTLD?
.travel is a sponsored Top Level Domain (sTLD) exclusively for the travel industry. This is the only Industry specific domain name that could be used only by the members of travel and tourism Industries and businesses. It gives great recognition and branding for your travel related business.
What are the benefits of .travel for the user?
The sTLD will allow consumers to find and recognize members of the travel industry. Tralliance is proposing a directory system with product and service information in order for consumers to be able to find .travel websites that encompass their travel information requirements. How can I register a .travel domain name and for how many years?
You can apply for Unique Identification Number (UIN) from NamesBeyond site or though your local association. Once authentication is completed you will receive a UIN number (Unique Identification number) and URL to the database for selection of names. Enter the .travel registration page. Provide your UIN number and fill out the form along with the domain names you have selected. You could register from One to 10 years.
Will the .travel TLD support the current Internet standards?
Yes, from a technical standpoint, the .travel TLD will work the same as a .com name.
Should I give up my .com domain once I register a .travel domain name?
No, there is no need to eliminate any of your other domain names when you purchase a .travel domain name. You can continue to use your current domain name and your current marketing materials and simply have your .travel name forward to your current website.
